Stubborn Artists

As artists, we can be stubborn. Fact. And if you’re disagreeing with me then you just proved my point. :) Break the cycle! Don’t close yourself off. I’ve been guilty of it and it’s not good for your craft or your pockets. Open yourself up to new ideas. I’m not saying to not have your own vision. You NEED to have your own vision and voice. That’s what separates you from everyone else. That’s what makes you stand out. Do not resist transformation and new perspectives. I’ve come across many artists in various fields who have a “my way or the highway” type of attitude, and it’s just not healthy. It shuts you out from growth, and growth as an artist is so important. It’s getting tricky huh? First, I’m telling you “to not close yourself off,” then I’m saying “but keep your vision” and so on and so forth. So it’s okay if you’re like, “Angel, which one is it?” The main point I’m trying to make here is to keep an open mind. When you allow yourself to accept new things and changes, you end up strengthening the vision you already had. That’s what makes you a better artist, and that’s what creates a stronger craft.
